FARE WELL MISS FORTUNE-SYNOPSIS
Ben Harrison, a thirty year old associate professor and bachelor, has only himself to care for. Ever since his father died when he was a teen, Ben has been unable to break through a shield that prevents him from getting close to others. Presently he spends his days teaching a summer course entitled Video Arts and spends his nights playing poker and entertaining his lady friend of the moment.
Terra Jansen is a young girl who lives on the wrong side of the tracks with her father, Frank. Following his wifes death, Frank has been making ends meet by salvaging odds and ends, while Terra takes care of him at home.
One morning, after dropping Terra at school, Frank collides with Bens car. At the hospital, Ben witnesses Frank go into cardiac arrest and die. As Ben is released, he palms a locket belonging to Terra that was found on her father.
Ben visits Terra at the childrens facility where she is staying while Ms. Powell, a social worker, attempts to track down her aunt. Ben misrepresents himself as a family friend in order to return Terras treasured locket to her.
That night, while playing poker with his three high school buddies, Terra appears at his doorstep having run away from the facility. Ben calls Ms. Powell, who persuades him to be Terras foster parent until the aunt is found. Racked with the guilt that he might have been the cause of the accident, he agrees.
Once Ben brings Terra back to the house, his bachelor lifestyle is completely interrupted. His night out with his friends is cut frighteningly short, his girlfriend leaves him, and Terra creates a mockery of his class.
Yet he feels a strong connection with the girl and seeks the advice of his poker friends on how to care for her. Brad, an angry man full of contempt, tells him to forget about her. Another friend -- a kinder, gentler friend -- Mooch tells him to try and show her a good time for the short time he has her.
Ben and Terra share a fun day together doing some of the things Terra has never been fortunate enough to experience. They form a bond and Ben actually begins to share things he would never share with his girlfriend or life-long buddies. But when Terra wakes up in the middle of the night crying and asks him how he knew her parents, Ben, poker-faced, perpetuates the lie of being a friend of her parents.
Eventually, Terra helps Ben come to terms with the death of his own father. However, as Ben fully opens up to her, she tells him something that pushes him back into his shell. She tells him she wants to live with him.
Unsure of how to react, Ben calls Ms. Powell for help. What he doesnt realize is Terra overhears a part of the conversation and mistakenly thinks Ben wants to get rid of her.
That night, Ben and his friends play poker. Brad, feeling left out since Bens been preoccupied with Terra, childishly initiates a battle of words with Terra. Since she is mad at Ben, she directs her words towards him. All hell breaks loose as Ben and Terra have it out in the bedroom while the guys fight downstairs. Finally, the game breaks up -- for good.
As Ben cleans up, Ms. Powell arrives claiming Terra called her. But when they go to his bedroom, they realize Terra ran away. They find her at her old house. Ben urges her to return with him, but she refuses. She runs maniacally through the house yelling at him. Ms. Powell rushes in to try and calm her down as Terra shrieks. When Ms. Powell looks to Ben for help, she sees that he has left.
After learning that Terras father was at fault in the accident, Ben hopes to redeem himself and goes to the facility to talk to her. Terra pushes him away. She thinks that the accident was her fault, that everything is her fault, and thats the reason nobody wants her.
In an attempt to do something nice, Ben goes back to Terras house to collect her cherished books. While there, he discovers some unsettling secrets Terra was concealing. He finds out that the whole time he was bluffing about knowing her mother, she knew it and she bluffed right back. She knew he was lying all along.
In the end, Ben does everything he can to win back her trust...only to bravely let her go.

FARE WELL MISS FORTUNE-DIRECTORS BIO

Micky Faust (DIRECTOR) was born and raised in a film family. His grandfather Sam, originally a silent film actor, founded The Camera Mart, one of the largest suppliers of motion picture equipment and production services in the world. It was at their Fox stage complex where Micky garnered his initial industry experience working on the studio staff for such films as "Kramer vs. Kramer", "Raging Bull" and "Sophies Choice".

Micky formed his own production company, Faust Sight & Sound, in 1984, immediately upon graduating from New York University Film School. Early assignments took him and his staff from the little island of Mustique, where he shot the Racquel Welch Fitness Video, to the boardroom of AT&T, where he filmed the divestiture of the worlds largest corporation.

For the last ten years, Micky has concentrated his efforts on television commercials and promotions. His reel now demonstrates a distinct flair acquired from a broad range of commercial projects. Recent campaigns include, Minolta, Polo Ralph Lauren, CompuServe, Citibank, Pfizer, Shasta and Hoechst Marion Roussels Allerdays Resource Center.

In 1989, Micky produced his first independent feature film, "BUMS". The project was filmed in 22 days and provided great insight into cost effective film productions. "BUMS" was followed up by two additional productions, "A Killing" and "Cracking Up". Micky recently completed post production on "Fare Well Miss Fortune", his feature film directorial debut.

CUS DAMATO - SYNOPSIS

Cus DAmato taught boxing. For Cus, boxing was the ultimate metaphor, where a mans character, not his title, would be determined. DAmato decided to dedicate himself to the sport of boxing. He reached into the rank and file of the poor, uneducated immigrants arriving daily, for those to embody his vision of what it means to be called a fighter. Boxing was a sport which having proved popular, became the financial Mecca for the underworld of criminals and gangsters. Just like one of his fighters, Cus squared off against these forces that had legitimized themselves beneath the umbrella of the organization called the IBC, the International Boxing Club. For more than twenty years, this organization dominated every aspect of the boxing world., keeping fights and their managers in slave-like dependency to their every whim.

Having met a young, unknown fighter named Floyd Patterson, Cus ascended tot he top of the boxing world, using Pattersons heavyweight crown as a means by which to destroy the IBC. He accomplished this feat, leading Congress to disband the organization by the end of the 1950s. Cus rise to the tope was short lived, culminating in his being abandoned by Patterson and many others, by the lure of big money over bigger principles. Cus left the boxing world, exiling himself in the isolated mountains of upstate New York.. There he started again, opening a small gym, training young, wayward boys in need of guidance and a second chance. Waiting for a fighter to walk through his door and give him a reason to believe againto believe in himself, in boxing and his life long philosophy that men of character are never defeated, just momentarily detained. Some time in the late 1970s, a young man named Mike Tyson walk through Cus door. Through the eyes of Cus long suffering love interest, Camile Ewald, and men who watched him develop both Patterson and Tyson, we hope to pose the questions can a leader be made? and what is the affect on a fighter who loses his mentor?

THOMAS PATTI - DIRECTOR

Thomas Patti is a former athlete and Golden Glove Champion. His ring experience was exceptional due to the guidance and tutelage of Cus DAmato. Tom Patti and Mike Tyson were the last two fighters to live and train with the legendary teacher. Having lived the life of an athlete and experienced first hand the development of a champions mind and heart, Tom has an awareness that he wants to share with people that meet challenges everyday of their lives. For the past ten years, Tom has acted in movies, and plays in the United States and in Europe. He has also written several stage plays as well as sold one film project to Columbia studios based on his own life experience.
